Thrive Chiropractic and Wellness offers nutrition counseling to men and women that want to lose weight, are in sports training, are dealing with chronic illness, and who wish to promote wellness. We design a diet and exercise program as part of our nutritional services. We use the ketogenic diet with many patients to help them manage their weight and athletes and body builders in training. There are several versions of the keto diet and we customize the diet to each of our patients. We know that this diet is not for some patients with chronic conditions, and we have many different diet plans that we work with.

Keto Diet for Weight Loss, Training, and Managing Chronic Illness

The Keto diet is used for weight loss, some athletes in training, and managing some chronic illnesses. The liver produces chemicals called ketones, acids that it sends into the bloodstream to burn fat instead of sugar or glucose. This diet is high fat low carb and moderate protein diet that helps the body burn fat efficiently to lose weight. It has been effective in treating some types of diabetes by reducing and controlling blood sugar in the body. Some versions of the diet are geared to athletes and body builders. The diet makes you feel full so your will eat less snacks and junk food during the day.

The diet allows you to eat red meat, bacon, sausage, chicken, fish, eggs, butter, cream, nuts and seeds, healthy oils, and low carb vegetables. The diet restricts and eliminates sugar, rice, pasta, cereal, fruit, beans, low fat diet products, alcohol, and sugar free diet foods. There are some bread and grain alternatives we can include in this diet. Healthy snacks include cheese, nuts and seeds, hard boiled eggs, yogurt with berries, olives, and dark chocolate. Our chiropractor also recommends vitamins, minerals, and supplements to be taken along with the diet plans we create. Eventually, you can eat carbs again, but must restrict them at the beginning. After a few months you can eat carbs occasionally.

We will also design an exercise program suited to your specific needs. It may be an exercise routine to do at home, weight training and working out, jogging, walking, yoga, running, and other forms of exercise that work with the ketogenic diet. We practice functional medicine with our nutrition services to find the root causes of diseases and weight gain.
